Hi. I’m Renee—mother to four beautiful children and wife to an amazing husband. By day, I’m a communications professional who, for over a decade, has had a career dedicated marketing and communication.

I’m fortunate to work in a profession that allows me to be creative—within reason. As my role has become increasingly focused on the business end of things, I’ve longed to return to my roots of creativity.

Enter Love Life in Color!

I started this blog to be a creative space where I can reflect on all things color. From food and fashion to graphic design and interior spaces, I hope to share how color brings joy to my life and how it can inspire yours.

I look forward to welcoming new friends to my blog every day. And it’s not all JUST about color. While you’re here you’ll find posts about all things creative—craft projects, DIY, home decor ideas, recipes, couponing, colleges (I have two juniors in high school, so the search is well underway) and even some random happy thoughts. I will likely be posting 2-3 times a week, or whenever the creative spirit hits.

A little about me

I was born and raised in New Jersey and decided to attend graduate school clear across the country in Washington State. There, I met the love of my life, Jason, who is a native of Seattle. Yes, we represent both sides of the country, and eventually decided to settle in Virginia. Here, we live happily with our four children—two boys and two girls who keep us constantly busy. No pets, for now, but the kids are wearing on us!

P1080204Something else that makes us unique is that we’re an interracial couple. While that’s not remarkable in and of itself, we like to think that it makes us a little different from the mold—and different is good. So don’t be surprised if you see a post or two about diversity. If you had asked me years ago, I never would have thought that this R&B, soul-loving sister would have grown up to marry a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, rock-loving surfer. But she did. And it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Yep, that’s the whole gang in the picture to the left!

Our girls

I mentioned that we have two juniors in high school. No, they’re not twins—they were friends at five years old and became sisters at seven. Fast-forward to today, and Carley and Amber are two beautiful 16-year-old young ladies, who are growing up waaaaay too fast for my liking. These days, they keep us busy between chorus, school musicals, gymnastics and any other activity that happens to suit their fancy on a given day.

Carley is our brainiac who I’m convinced has a photographic memory. She never really “studies” but somehow has managed to get an “A” in every class since she started high school. For some reason, she doesn’t understand why I have nothing to add to a conversation about derivatives or absolute convergence.

Amber is our social butterfly who can have five different sets of friends visit before the weekend is over. She is a MUSIC-LOVER at heart. While she may not remember when her English paper is due, she can tell you every lyric to every song ever written— like EVER! Although she deosn’t live with us full time, I definitely consider her my bonus child.

Our boys

Together, we have 7 and 5 year old boys who are a handful, to say the least. If I could look into my crystal ball, I’d say Dylan (7) will be an engineer or an architect. Give him some sticks, rocks and dirt, and he’ll deliver to you a skyscraper complete with working elevator and a landing pad for your helicopter. His imagination is boundless!

Brandon (5) is our boy genius, who at 2 could recognize every letter in the alphabet and spell all of our names. I can’t predict what he will grow up to “be”, but however his life takes shape, he will make an indelible mark on this world.

So that’s us – in all of our richness, diversity and quirkiness as a family. And I like to think we have something special here.
